The Professional series is so solid and fast that using it is a true pleasure.

The dimensions are 210 x 70 x 20 mm, which is nearly perfect for most knives and tools. The thickness of this single-sided stone ensures countless sharpening sessions.

Magnesia Bonding What sets the Professional series apart from other water stones is the bonding agent used between the abrasive grains. This is known as Magnesia Bonding, in contrast to the resin bonding used in the Naniwa Super Stone series. One of the main features of this method is the higher density and cohesion of the grains, giving the stone the fastest sharpening ability among all Naniwa series. Experienced users will truly feel the difference with these stones.

Soaking is optional for stones in the Professional series. If desired, we recommend soaking for no more than 15 minutes. After that, your stone is ready for sharpening. We recommend keeping a spray bottle handy to keep the stone wet during use.

Stone Care Naniwa’s Professional stones require more care than your average stone. Unlike some water stones, these should not be left submerged, as prolonged soaking can affect the bonding of the grains. When you're done, let them dry naturally. Do not speed up drying by applying heat—just let them air-dry evenly. Only store the stones once they are completely dry.
