Naniwa Professional Stone Series This is Naniwa’s highest-quality sharpening stone. There are classic sharpening stones, but then there are stones that become your most prized possessions. The Naniwa Professional is one of those products. An experienced user looks for a stone that not only sharpens well, but sharpens quickly. The Professional series is so consistent and fast that it is truly enjoyable to use.

The dimensions are 210 x 70 x 20 mm — almost perfect for most knives and tools. The thickness of this single-sided stone will last through countless sharpening sessions.

Magnesia Bonding What sets the Professional series apart from other water stones is the bonding agent between the grains. It is called Magnesia Bonding, as opposed to the resin used in the Naniwa Superstone series. One of the key features of this process is the higher density and cohesion of the abrasive particles. This gives the stone the fastest sharpening capability of all Naniwa series. Experienced users can really feel the difference with these stones.

Soaking the stones in the Professional series is optional. If you choose to soak, we recommend no more than 15 minutes. After that, your stone is ready for sharpening. We recommend keeping a spray bottle handy to keep the stones moist during sharpening.

Stone Care Naniwa Professional stones require more care than your average sharpening stone. Unlike some water stones, these should not be left soaking in water, as prolonged exposure will affect the bonding of the grains. After use, let the stone air dry. Do not attempt to speed up drying by applying heat — just let it dry evenly in open air. Store the stone only once it is completely dry.
