The blade is made from Damascus stainless steel, renowned for centuries for its sharpness and durability, as well as for the stunning appearance created by the distinctive "waves", making each knife literally one of a kind. More specifically, the blade's core is made from the innovative Japanese VG10 stainless steel alloy, known for its hardness thanks to the cobalt it contains, which is surrounded by individual layers of Damascus steel, further enhancing the knife's hardness and durability. Every knife in this series is hand-sharpened by skilled Japanese craftsmen on both sides at 15°, so you receive an exceptionally sharp knife.

Master of Blades recommends that you always wipe and dry these knives thoroughly after each use to avoid any moisture retention. For the same reason, it’s a good idea to wrap the knife in newspaper when not in use. Regardless of the knife you use, it will eventually need sharpening. For knives made from hard steel (high Rockwell), like Japanese ones — especially if sharpened on one side — it’s strongly recommended to use a whetstone exclusively, in order to achieve the best possible edge while also preserving the blade for continued top-level performance.
